WEB Giants TE steps away after one season in New York

Darren Waller Announces NFL Retirement After 8 Seasons

### Tight end Darren Waller has retired from the NFL after eight seasons, he announced in an almost 18-minute video on YouTube Sunday.

Waller, 31, spent one season with the New York Giants after signing a three-year, $24 million contract in March 2022.

The former Pro Bowl selection played in 16 games for the Giants, catching 61 passes for 676 yards and two touchdowns.

Waller's retirement comes after a season in which he dealt with a number of injuries, including a hamstring injury that kept him out of the final three games of the regular season.

The tight end said in his retirement video that he found a lot of joy in playing football, but he was ready to move on to the next chapter of his life.

Waller's retirement is a significant loss for the Giants, who were hoping to have him as a key part of their offense in 2023.
